Coatings Technician
Position Overview
We are looking for a self-motivated, qualified Coatings Technician to prepare and complete specialty coatings projects. Your job will entail selecting, mixing and applying various specialty paints/chemicals to various surfaces, such as vehicles, trailers, automotive parts, etc. The ideal candidate will be an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. You will also have good skill and knowledge of basic mechanical and power tools skills, working with little supervision, while following all health and safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum 1 year experience working with specialty coatings preferred
• Good understanding of basic mechanic skills and power tools (table saw, grinder, mitre saw, etc.)
• Knowledge of specialty coatings materials, methods, tools and equipment
• Experience in the preparation of components/vehicles for coatings using various preparation methods
• Experience in selecting and mixing desired specialty coatings as it relates to specific projects
• Ability to spray paint and maintain paint prep tools including the spray facility
• Ability to mask appropriate areas as required
• Ability to protect the customer's vehicle to prevent damage during preparation and application of specialty coatings
• Ability to wear an air purifying respirator mask for extended periods of time
• Ability to complete assigned work on time with a high attention to detail
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach overhead for extended periods of time
• Ability to be exposed to noise, hot/cold temperatures, fumes, etc.
• Capable of understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions
• Ability to complete pick-ups and deliveries
• Comply with all company policies and regulations
• Able to take direction well, work in a team environment, and have good communication/time management skills
• Good work ethic and must be punctual
Education & Experience
• High school diploma/GED
• One year related experience preferred
• First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
• WHMIS and other typical safety certifications are considered assets
• Valid 'G' Class driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lb.
• Training will be provided as required
Job Type
• Full-time (40-50 hours per week)
Compensation
• Wage: $17/hr (willing to be negotiate based on relevant experience & qualifications)
